Meteorological department says heavy downpours could trigger flash floods, landslides and waterlogging in several vulnerable areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more monsoon rains in the coming days and warned that intense downpours could trigger flash floods, urban flooding and landslides in vulnerable parts of the country.
According to the PMD, widespread rainfall is expected to affect northern, central and eastern regions, with particularly heavy showers possible in low-lying urban areas and mountainous districts.
The department cautioned that urban flooding may occur in major cities if drainage systems are overwhelmed, while hilly regions face an increased risk of landslides and sudden flash floods in streams and nullahs.
Authorities have advised provincial administrations, local governments and emergency response agencies to remain on alert and ensure preparedness measures are in place for any weather-related emergencies.
Residents living near rivers, streams, hill torrents and flood-prone urban neighbourhoods have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and to follow official safety advisories as the monsoon spell continues.
