Pakistan’s ambitious refinery upgrade plan has moved forward with a planned investment of around $5 billion aimed at modernising the country’s refining sector.

The Pak-Arab Refinery Company (PARCO) has agreed to proceed with a $600 million green fuel project, marking a major step toward expanding cleaner energy production.

The investment is expected to support the development of modern refining capacity, improved fuel quality and energy efficiency, while strengthening Pakistan’s domestic energy infrastructure.

The green fuel project is also expected to contribute to the country’s efforts to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on conventional fuel sources.

The broader refinery upgrade programme could help attract further investment into Pakistan’s energy sector and support long-term efforts to improve fuel security.
