Pakistan has secured a historic place in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, marking a major milestone for football in the country.

According to sources, FIFA invited Pakistan to participate in the newly launched competition, and the Pakistan Football Federation accepted the invitation.

The tournament will be held in Indonesia from September 21 to October 6 and will feature teams from across the region.

Pakistan will compete in Division 1 alongside India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

The event will be Pakistan’s first participation in a FIFA-organised tournament outside qualification competitions for the World Cup and continental championships.

The competition offers Pakistan a valuable opportunity to gain international experience, face stronger regional opponents, and further develop the national team.

Sources said Pakistan’s inclusion was helped by growing engagement between FIFA and Mohsen Gilani, who played a key role in facilitating the invitation.

The tournament is expected to provide a major platform for Pakistan football and contribute to the sport’s growing momentum in the country.
