Government to brief international experts on legal and technical aspects of water-sharing pact at Islamabad seminar.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) cannot be revoked or suspended unilaterally, reaffirming Pakistan’s legal rights under the decades-old water-sharing agreement with India.
Speaking alongside Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik, Tarar said Pakistan would present the treaty’s legal and technical framework to international experts at the IWT 2026 seminar in Islamabad. He stressed that water security remains a national priority and described it as Pakistan’s “red line.”
The ministers said the treaty, brokered by the World Bank, provides a mechanism for resolving disputes and that Pakistan has raised India’s suspension of the agreement at international forums, including the United Nations.
