The Michael Jackson biopic Michael has surpassed $900 million in global box office earnings, according to industry reports, marking a major milestone for Lionsgate.
The film is now just $11 million short of overtaking Bohemian Rhapsody, which stands at $911 million worldwide, positioning it to potentially become the highest-grossing musical biopic in history.
International markets have contributed more than $544.8 million, while domestic earnings stand at $355.2 million. The film is currently in its seventh week of release and continues to perform strongly across major territories.
Top-performing regions include the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Brazil and Mexico, with additional solid earnings from Australia, Italy and Spain. Emerging markets such as India, China and the UAE have also added steady contributions.
The film, produced on a budget exceeding $200 million before marketing costs, continues its global rollout and is now being closely watched for whether it can cross the $1 billion mark.
Industry analysts say its sustained performance suggests strong long-term audience interest as it approaches key box office records.
