Selena Gomez has dismissed online speculation suggesting a fallout with Taylor Swift after a brief social media comment sparked fan theories about tension between the two stars.
The rumours began after Gomez left a “lol” under posts showing Swift attending a New York Knicks game courtside during the NBA Finals. The comment was later deleted, but screenshots quickly spread online, prompting widespread discussion among fans about its meaning.
Addressing the backlash on Instagram Stories, Gomez clarified that her remark had been taken out of context and was not intended as an insult. She explained that it was linked to a friendly basketball wager with friends and not directed at Swift. “I would never insult my friends nor was it an insult,” she wrote, adding that the comment related to the game itself.
Gomez further emphasised that the reaction was being misread and stressed there was no issue between her and Swift. The clarification appears to have put an end to speculation of a feud between the longtime friends.
