Kuwait has introduced new regulations setting operating hours for fishing and recreational boats, restricting sailing to daytime only from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM starting Friday, April 24, 2026.
The directive was issued by the General Directorate of Coast Guard as part of broader efforts to regulate maritime activity and enhance safety standards in national waters.
Director General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef said the decision follows a review of current maritime conditions and is aimed at balancing sea-based activities with strengthened security across Kuwait’s coastal areas.
He also instructed boat operators to strictly adhere to designated navigation routes and avoid approaching sensitive sites, including oil facilities and other critical infrastructure, citing national security concerns.
Vessels have further been directed to keep their Automatic Identification System (AIS) switched on at all times to support monitoring and ensure rapid response capability.
The Kuwait Coast Guard said its teams will continue round-the-clock surveillance and urged full compliance from all maritime users to ensure safe operations across the country.
In a separate development, Kuwait recently issued two decisions revoking citizenship from 172 individuals, published in the official gazette as part of ongoing legal and administrative reviews of nationality records.
