According to the Israeli army, Sergeant Major Alexander Glovanyov, 47, was killed on Sunday during combat operations near the Israel-Lebanon border.

The military said the latest fatality adds to previous losses, along with one civilian contractor killed since the conflict began.

Despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon that took effect on April 17, both sides have continued to exchange fire in southern Lebanon, with sporadic clashes reported along the border area.

The conflict escalated after Hezbollah began launching rockets toward Israel in early March, prompting Israeli air and ground operations in response.

Israeli forces are currently operating beyond what has been described as an Israeli-declared “yellow line” inside Lebanese territory, extending roughly 10 kilometres north of the border.

Tensions remain high in the region, with the ceasefire appearing increasingly fragile amid ongoing cross-border hostilities.
