Senior journalist Hamid Mir has called for a significant reduction in petrol prices following the reported US-Iran agreement aimed at easing regional tensions.
Mir argued that improved stability in global energy markets could lower oil prices and create room for relief in domestic fuel rates.
He urged the government to ensure any benefit from falling international oil prices is passed on to consumers facing high living costs.
The remarks come as markets assess the potential impact of the US-Iran deal on global oil supply and energy prices.
Any change in petroleum prices, however, would depend on international market trends, exchange rates and government pricing policies.
