JACOBABAD: In one of the world’s hottest cities, Jacobabad, daily life has become a battle against extreme heat, with temperatures often crossing 50°C.

Brick kiln workers and labourers continue working outdoors despite the dangerous conditions, driven by financial necessity and lack of alternatives.

Workers say the intense heat, combined with furnace-like working environments, makes their jobs physically exhausting and hazardous.

Health experts warn that rising temperatures are making the city increasingly difficult to live in, with some saying it may eventually become uninhabitable if conditions worsen.

Local doctors report that temperatures can reach up to 52°C, with heatwaves affecting both health and livelihoods across the region.

Residents also face water shortages, poor infrastructure and worsening environmental stress, adding to daily hardship.

Experts say climate change is no longer a future threat for the city but a present reality shaping survival, work and long-term migration risks.
