Gaza remained the world’s deadliest place for humanitarian workers for a third consecutive year, according to the United Nations, with 186 aid personnel killed in 2025.
The UN humanitarian office warned that aid workers and civilians are facing growing dangers as the use of drones increases in conflict zones. Humanitarian personnel often operate in areas where access is already difficult and security conditions can change rapidly.
The continued deaths have raised fresh concerns over the safety of those delivering essential assistance to people affected by conflict. Aid organisations have repeatedly called for greater protection for humanitarian workers and civilians.
The UN said the situation highlights the increasingly dangerous environment in which humanitarian operations are being carried out, particularly in Gaza, where the need for food, medical care and other basic assistance remains severe.
