Foreign Office says CDF’s Iran trip was part of Pakistan’s own mediation efforts, calling reports ‘misleading and factually incorrect’.

The Foreign Office has rejected reports suggesting that Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir travelled to Tehran as an envoy of US President Donald Trump.
FO spokesperson said Munir’s visit was undertaken as part of Pakistan’s independent mediation efforts aimed at promoting peace and reducing tensions in the region.
The spokesperson termed reports portraying the CDF as Trump’s representative in Tehran “misleading and factually incorrect”, stressing that Pakistan was pursuing its own diplomatic initiative.
Munir’s visit came amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States, with Islamabad seeking to facilitate dialogue and support efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.
