UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has ruled out running for the FIFA presidency, ending speculation that he could challenge Gianni Infantino in next year’s election.
Ceferin’s decision comes as Infantino seeks to strengthen his support among smaller and developing football associations, reportedly emphasising greater financial assistance and development opportunities.
Meanwhile, UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation and CONCACAF are reportedly considering a possible no-confidence vote against Infantino ahead of the FIFA presidential election.
The developments could add further tension within football’s governing structure as associations assess Infantino’s leadership and prepare for the contest over FIFA’s top post.
