Bakhtawar Mazhar, who is receiving praise for her role as a cancer survivor in the drama Dr Bahu, has shared the personal reason behind her emotional performance.
In an Instagram post, the senior actor revealed that her connection to the character Saeeda was deeply personal, as she has lost four close family members and a childhood friend to cancer, while also witnessing two young cousins battle the disease.
She said these experiences made her especially mindful while portraying the role, with a focus on maintaining authenticity in both the emotional and physical aspects of the character.
Bakhtawar also credited writer Sanam Zaryab for handling the story with sensitivity, and praised director Mehreen Jabbar for guiding the subject with care. She further acknowledged cinematographer Tayyab Shah for capturing the character’s journey with honesty.
Describing herself as a “director’s actor,” she said the appreciation she has received is largely due to the support of the creative team.
