CDF witnesses trials of locally designed arms and ammunition, reviews new industrial plants and export potential.

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah on Saturday, where he reviewed the facility’s defence production capabilities, export potential and ongoing indigenisation efforts, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was briefed on various aspects of POF’s operations and its contribution to strengthening Pakistan’s defence industrial base through the indigenous development and production of military equipment.
The CDF also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition. According to ISPR, the demonstrations highlighted POF’s efforts towards innovation, self-reliance and enhancing Pakistan’s domestic defence production capabilities.
Field Marshal Munir was further given an overview of progress on POF’s corporatisation process following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DIPRA) Ordinance.
He was also apprised of ongoing indigenisation and upgradation initiatives, including the installation of two new industrial plants. ISPR said the plants are expected to commence production by the end of the current year.
The visit underscored the military leadership’s focus on strengthening self-reliance, expanding indigenous defence production and promoting technological innovation in Pakistan’s defence sector.
