Pakistan at UN Says It Will “Foil All Threats” to National Security, Flags Cross-Border Terrorism

Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad tells UNSC Pakistan is aware of “evil designs” against it and highlights rising terror attacks from Afghan territory.

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, told the UN Security Council that Islamabad will firmly respond to any attempts to threaten its national security.

Speaking during a right of reply session, the envoy said Pakistan is fully aware of “India’s motives and evil designs” and will not allow any support for militant activity against the country.

He alleged that terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory continue to pose a major threat to Pakistan’s security situation.

The ambassador said groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other organisations were using Afghan soil as safe havens, calling it a long-standing regional concern.

He added that Pakistan has suffered significant losses from terrorism, stating that more than 1,200 Pakistani citizens were killed in such attacks last year, including civilians and security personnel.

The envoy also said Pakistan has consistently supported Afghanistan through humanitarian assistance, trade facilitation and diplomatic engagement, while expecting stronger action against militant groups operating from its territory.
