The Power Division has warned consumers about potential data theft through fake QR codes on electricity bills. Officials said scammers are using these codes to redirect users to suspicious links asking for personal information in multiple steps.

Users are first sent to a specific link and then asked to enter a six-digit code after providing their details. The division said these practices are malicious and illegal.

Consumer data should only be entered on official electricity bill platforms. Submitting information elsewhere is unsafe. Law enforcement agencies have been notified about the suspected fraud.

Consumers are urged not to provide personal or financial details on unofficial digital or paper systems, even if they claim to offer subsidies or services.
