US intelligence agencies have raised serious doubts about Iran’s willingness to make nuclear concessions in a potential agreement with Washington, Axios reported.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly told President Donald Trump and senior officials that intelligence findings suggest Iran’s internal positions do not align with what it has communicated through mediators.
According to the report, Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner are expected to meet Iranian officials on Friday alongside Pakistani and Qatari mediators as talks enter a new phase.
The White House said Trump has heard multiple viewpoints but remains the final decision-maker, adding that the memorandum of understanding aims to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons or controlling enriched uranium.
The initial framework is designed to support a 60-day negotiation period, during which broader issues such as enrichment levels and sanctions relief would be discussed.
US officials say they will assess within weeks whether Iran is serious about making meaningful nuclear concessions as negotiations continue.
