An aspiring UFC fighter has been identified as the victim of a rare bear attack at a remote uranium exploration site in northern Saskatchewan, Canada.

Hrishikesh Koloth, 27, was fatally mauled on May 8 while working as a contract technician. Originally from India, Koloth moved to Canada three years ago to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.

According to his family and training partners, reaching the UFC was his ultimate goal. He trained at Skoden Martial Arts and competed as an amateur MMA fighter.

Friends described him as a dedicated athlete who balanced intense training with demanding work shifts at the exploration site.

CBC reported that Koloth’s death is only the fourth fatal bear attack recorded in Saskatchewan’s history, highlighting the rarity of such incidents in the province.

His family is now making arrangements to repatriate his body to India.
