British Parliamentary Under-Secretary Hamish Falconer has praised Pakistan’s role in helping broker a ceasefire and peace agreement between the United States and Iran during a visit to Islamabad.

Falconer described the deal as a significant step toward regional stability and thanked Pakistan for its efforts in facilitating negotiations.

He also reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to working with Pakistan and other partners to support lasting peace and the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

During meetings with Pakistani leaders, the British minister announced an additional £8 million in funding to strengthen cooperation against illegal migration, people smuggling and organised crime.

The funding will support border management, visa systems, law-enforcement capabilities and community programmes aimed at preventing illegal migration.

Falconer said the UK-Pakistan partnership remains vital for tackling terrorism, visa fraud and other security challenges, adding that both countries would continue to deepen cooperation in these areas.
