Pakistan’s security forces killed 17 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operations were carried out in the districts of Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar and Kech following the deadly train-related incident on May 24.
According to the military’s media wing, security forces engaged multiple militant hideouts during the operations, resulting in the deaths of 17 militants. The ISPR said the slain militants were involved in terrorist activities in the region.
Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition, explosives and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the raids.
The operations come amid heightened security concerns in Balochistan following a blast near a railway track in Quetta on May 24 that left multiple people dead and injured.
