PM Shehbaz congratulates PPP on Gilgit-Baltistan poll victory

Premier hails peaceful elections as PPP emerges as the largest party in unofficial results

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for emerging as the largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections.

He also congratulated President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the party’s performance.

According to unofficial results from 19 of 24 constituencies, the PPP has won nine seats, the highest among all parties.

Independent candidates secured six seats, while the PML-N won three and the MWM claimed one seat.

The prime minister praised the people of Gilgit-Baltistan for the peaceful conduct of the elections.

He also lauded the Election Commission for ensuring a transparent electoral process.

Shehbaz commended police and security agencies for maintaining law and order during polling.

Meanwhile, PTI, PPP and JUI-F raised concerns over delays in results and the issuance of Form-45s.

Despite the complaints, unofficial results indicate the PPP has emerged as the leading political force in Gilgit-Baltis
