PDMA issues rain alert across Punjab from June 2 to 5

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert for Punjab, forecasting rain, strong winds and hailstorms in various parts of the province from June 2 to 5.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, several districts are expected to receive rainfall during the forecast period, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sialkot and Narowal.

PDMA Director-General Umar Javed said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain fully alert and ensure necessary arrangements during the rainy spell.

The authority has advised citizens to avoid staying in open areas during thunderstorms and lightning strikes. Farmers have also been urged to take precautionary measures to protect crops and agricultural equipment from possible weather-related damage.

Tourists planning to travel to northern areas have been asked to check weather conditions and make safety arrangements before starting their journeys.

The PDMA has urged the public to remain cautious and contact its emergency helpline, 1129, in case of any emergency or weather-related incident.
