Pakistan defeated Afghanistan 2-0 in the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament final in Male on Wednesday.
The Green Shirts took control early and opened the scoring in the 24th minute. Shayak Dost produced a brilliant bicycle kick after an assist opportunity from Otis Khan.
Afghanistan pushed hard for an equaliser, but Pakistan’s defence remained solid throughout the match.
Pakistan sealed the victory with a second goal late in the game to secure the title.
The triumph marks Pakistan’s first senior international football title since the 1991 South Asian Games and their first standalone international crown since 1952.
