Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif told the National Economic Council (NEC) that Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability through joint efforts of the federal and provincial governments, despite economic pressures and rising global oil prices.

He said timely policy measures helped maintain fuel supply and provided Rs128 billion in relief to the public. The prime minister also stressed that defence funding will remain a priority in the upcoming budget due to security concerns.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal announced that the NEC approved a Rs3.66 trillion development budget and set a 4% GDP growth target for the next fiscal year. He added that Pakistan must boost exports and investment while addressing its rising debt burden.
