Israeli attacks killed eight Palestinians and wounded 34 others in the last 24 hours in the Gaza Strip, according to the territory’s health ministry.

The latest casualties have pushed the overall death toll since October 2023 to 72,988, while thousands more have been injured during the conflict. The ministry said the deaths occurred as Israeli shelling and gunfire continued despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025.

According to official figures, at least 978 Palestinians have been killed and 3,097 injured since the ceasefire began. The ministry did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the latest deaths.

The war, which began in October 2023, has caused widespread destruction across Gaza. Large parts of the territory’s civilian infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed, affecting homes, schools, hospitals and public services.

The United Nations estimates that rebuilding Gaza will require around $70 billion, highlighting the scale of the devastation left by more than two years of conflict.
