Haaland Double Leads Norway Past Iraq

Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway defeated Iraq 4-1 in their opening Group I match.

Haaland gave Norway the lead in the first half. Iraq responded through Aymen Hussein to level the score.

The Manchester City striker struck again before halftime after an Iraqi defensive error. His brace took his international tally to 57 goals in 51 matches.

Substitute Leo Ostigard added a third goal after the break. Norway sealed the win in stoppage time through an Iraq own goal.

The victory marked Norway’s first World Cup appearance since 1998. They now sit level on points with France after the opening round of matches.

Norway will face Senegal next, while Iraq take on France in their second Group I fixture.
