The FIFA World Cup 2026 schedule has been officially announced, confirming a landmark edition of the tournament featuring 48 teams for the first time.
Hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the event will begin in June 2026 and run through a packed summer of football across multiple cities. The expanded format will include a larger group stage followed by knockout rounds, increasing the total number of matches and global participation.
FIFA says the new structure is designed to make the tournament more inclusive and competitive, giving more nations a chance to compete on football’s biggest stage.
