The announcement was made following the successful completion of the province-wide cleanliness campaign under the Suthra Punjab initiative. Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique said the chief minister had also directed authorities to register sanitation workers under the CM Rashan Card Programme to further support them and their families.
He said some workers had already received their Rashan Cards, adding that the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to the welfare of frontline sanitation staff.
According to officials, more than 184,000 sanitation workers participated in the special Eid operation and worked round the clock for 72 consecutive hours to ensure the prompt collection and disposal of sacrificial animal waste.
Over 40,000 machinery units, including loader rickshaws and pickup vehicles, were deployed across Punjab, while an additional 7,000 units were arranged to clear temporary waste collection points in both urban and rural areas.
The government also carried out special cleaning and washing operations at more than 6,500 mosques and Eidgahs. Ahead of Eidul Azha, around 12 million environmentally friendly waste bags were distributed free of cost among citizens to facilitate proper waste disposal.
Officials described the operation as one of the largest and most successful cleanliness drives conducted in the province, with the cash reward aimed at acknowledging the dedication and hard work of sanitation workers.
