Actor Zara Noor Abbas has spoken out against what she calls the media’s tendency to create rivalries between women for attention and engagement.
The remarks came after she faced online speculation for liking a post comparing performances of Sajal Ali and Sahar Hashmi in the drama Zanjeerain. Some users interpreted the action as criticism, prompting backlash.
Zara addressed the controversy on Instagram, rejecting the narrative and criticising tabloids and online platforms for “taking things out of context” and “making money out of stupid narratives.”
She said she was unconcerned about such speculation, adding that if false stories involving her generate attention or income for others, she does not object. Her statement has since sparked wider discussion about how female celebrities are often compared and pitted against each other online.
