Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi thriller Disclosure Day opened at No. 1 in North America with $44 million.

The film, starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, marks Spielberg’s return to large-scale science fiction.

Industry analysts called the debut strong, though noted its long-term success will depend on audience retention.

Elsewhere, The Devil Wears Prada franchise crossed $1 billion globally, boosted by strong international performance of its sequel.

The follow-up has earned over $676 million and features the returning ensemble cast led by Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.

Meanwhile, the Michael Jackson biopic Michael has surged to $932 million worldwide and is closing in on the $1 billion mark.

The film has already become one of the highest-grossing music biopics in history.

Other box office highlights include horror hit Obsession, which continues its strong run on a very low budget, and Scary Movie, which debuted in third place.

The weekend reflects a market dominated by major franchises, sequels and star-driven global releases.
