Pakistan’s rapid and flexible diplomacy played a key role in helping bring the United States and Iran to a framework agreement aimed at ending their conflict.
Officials said Islamabad’s backchannel engagement helped bridge communication gaps between Washington and Tehran during critical phases of negotiations.
The breakthrough follows weeks of shuttle diplomacy involving Pakistan, which has acted as a trusted intermediary for both sides.
Regional Gulf states were also praised for showing restraint, helping prevent further escalation during the crisis.
The agreement includes a ceasefire framework and plans for 60 days of negotiations on a final settlement covering Iran’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief.
Diplomats say Pakistan’s role highlights its growing influence as a mediator in complex regional conflicts.
The deal is widely seen as a first step, with major issues still unresolved despite early progress.
