Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed all provincial departments to ensure comprehensive security, public facilitation and emergency preparedness arrangements for Muharram across the province.

Chairing a high-level meeting, the chief minister instructed authorities to enhance surveillance in sensitive areas, deploy additional personnel where required, and strengthen intelligence sharing to prevent any untoward incidents.

She ordered the use of modern monitoring tools, including CCTV coverage of all majalis routes and integration of private cameras with the Safe City system where needed. Officials were also directed to implement three-tier security arrangements, conduct combing operations, and establish control rooms in all districts.

Referring to regional tensions following the US-Iran conflict, CM Maryam stressed the need to handle religious sensitivities with care and ensure peace during Muharram gatherings. She also urged religious scholars and community leaders to promote harmony through sermons.

The chief minister further instructed authorities to provide heatwave relief, including cold drinking water, mobile health units, field hospitals, and Rescue 1122 teams along procession routes. She also directed removal of hazards such as debris, open manholes, hanging wires, and stray animals.

Emphasising proactive planning, she ordered mock security drills, strict monitoring of hate material, and public awareness campaigns to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram across Punjab.
