WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said two US Army pilots are safe after an Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz, following reports that the crew was rescued.

Trump told reporters at John F. Kennedy International Airport that “nobody injured” and confirmed that an official report on the incident would be issued later.

The incident occurred near the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route, though the cause of the crash remains unclear.

It is not yet known whether the aircraft was brought down by hostile fire, technical failure or another issue, according to early reports.

The development comes amid rising tensions in the region following recent exchanges between Iran and Israel, which had briefly agreed to pause hostilities after a US-mediated appeal.

US officials have not yet confirmed operational details, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The situation adds to growing instability in the Gulf region, where military activity and geopolitical tensions remain elevated.
