ISLAMABAD: The federal government is likely to present the budget for FY2026-27 in the National Assembly on June 12, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said on Tuesday.

He said Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget before the lower house of parliament.

The announcement follows multiple delays as the government continued consultations with coalition partners over fiscal proposals and economic targets.

Officials said a revised parliamentary schedule has been issued, with National Assembly and Senate sessions expected to be convened on June 10.

The National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, which was scheduled earlier, has also been postponed amid ongoing discussions on development spending and macroeconomic planning.

Sources said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led government has reached broad agreement with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on most budget measures, though some technical issues remain under discussion.

The budget preparation process is also being coordinated with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of broader fiscal consolidation efforts.

Under constitutional requirements, the federal budget must be approved before June 30 to take effect from July 1.
