Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has described the ceasefire implementation agreement announced in Washington after talks with Israel as the “last chance” to secure a final and comprehensive truce between the two sides.

In a statement issued by the Lebanese presidency on Thursday, Aoun said the outcomes of the fourth round of negotiations included several important points that were favorable to Lebanon. He stressed that all parties would bear responsibility if they failed to respond positively to the proposed agreement.

The Lebanese president said Beirut would communicate its official position to the United States once responses were received from the concerned domestic parties, particularly Hezbollah.

Aoun added that Washington would determine the date on which the ceasefire would take effect, while US President Donald Trump would act as the direct guarantor of the agreement’s implementation.

The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end months of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah and establish a broader and more durable ceasefire in the region.
