PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the government to complete the Diamer-Bhasha Dam without delay. Addressing a rally in Diamer, he said the project is both a right of local people and a national necessity. He asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to use his “Shehbaz speed” to ensure its early completion.

Bilawal accused India’s Modi government of using water as a tool against Pakistan and said no project is more important than the dam. The $15 billion project is expected to generate 4,500 megawatts of electricity, irrigate 1.2 million acres of land, and extend the life of Tarbela Dam by 35 years.

The PPP chairman also campaigned for the June 7 Gilgit-Baltistan elections, urging voters to elect a PPP government. He promised better healthcare facilities, including free medicines and surgeries, and praised President Asif Ali Zardari for launching the Benazir Income Support Programme. Bilawal also rejected claims that former prime minister Imran Khan was responsible for ending foreign military bases, saying the move had already been made under a PPP-led government
