Australian cricketer Travis Head and his wife Jessica have reportedly been targeted with online abuse following a heated on-field exchange with Virat Kohli during an IPL match.
The incident occurred during a T20 game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, where both players were involved in a verbal altercation.
Head’s team went on to win the match by 55 runs, while Kohli was dismissed for 15 runs.
After the game, tensions appeared to continue during the handshake, when Kohli reportedly did not respond to Head’s gesture but greeted other players.
Following the match, Jessica Head said on social media that she woke up to a flood of abusive messages and that even friends and family members were being targeted privately.
She stressed that while sporting rivalry is normal, people should remember that athletes and their families are real individuals affected by online harassment.
Jessica also said the situation felt similar to earlier abuse she experienced after the 2023 Cricket World Cup final, when Australia defeated India.
She urged fans to show more respect and kindness, highlighting the growing concern over abuse directed at players’ families on social media.
