Pakistan are staring at defeat in the second Test in Sylhet after reaching 200-5 at tea on day four, still needing 237 more runs to chase a massive target of 437 against Bangladesh.

The visitors lost both openers early, with Azan Awais scoring 21 and Abdullah Fazal making 6 as the total slipped to 41. Captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam then steadied the innings, but Babar was dismissed for 47 and Shan followed after top-scoring with 71.

Saud Shakeel once again failed to contribute significantly, managing just 6 runs. At the break, Salman Ali Agha was unbeaten on 25 and Mohammad Rizwan was on 15, keeping faint hopes alive for Pakistan.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack stayed disciplined, with Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam taking two wickets each, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz added another.

Earlier, Bangladesh set a daunting 437-run target after being bowled out for 390 in their second innings, powered by a brilliant century from Mushfiqur Rahim and useful contributions from Litton Das (69) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (19). Khurram Shahzad led Pakistan’s bowling with 4-86, while Sajid Khan took three wickets and Mohammad Abbas and Hasan Ali chipped in with one wicket each.

Pakistan’s first innings had earlier collapsed for 232, despite a top score of 68 from Babar Azam and a 38-run effort from Sajid Khan, leaving them under pressure throughout the match.
