Pakistan reached 101-2 at lunch on day four of the second Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet while chasing a target of 437.
After starting the day at 0-0, Pakistan lost both openers early. Abdullah Fazal was dismissed for 6 by Nahid Rana after a 27-run stand, before Mehidy Hasan Miraz removed Azan Awais for 21, leaving the visitors at 41-2.
Captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam then stabilised the innings with an unbeaten stand, taking Pakistan to 101-2 at the break. They now need 336 more runs with eight wickets in hand.
Shan was unbeaten on 41 and Babar on 24.
Earlier, Bangladesh were bowled out for 278 in their first innings, recovering from 116-6 thanks to a brilliant 126 from Litton Das. Khurram Shahzad led Pakistan’s attack with 4-81, while Abbas took three wickets and Hasan Ali two.
Pakistan replied with 232, conceding a 46-run lead, as Babar made 68 and Sajid Khan scored 38. Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam took three wickets each for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh then posted 390 in their second innings, powered by Mushfiqur Rahim’s century, setting Pakistan a target of 437. Khurram Shahzad again impressed with 4-86, while Sajid Khan took three wickets.
