Massive fire erupts at Karachi lunda factory

A massive fire broke out at a lunda factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone on Monday, but timely action by rescue officials prevented major damage to goods and no casualties were reported.

The factory, located within the jurisdiction of Sukkan Police Station, caught fire on the ground floor before the flames spread to the upper three floors and later to additional sections of the building.

Rescue 1122 teams responded immediately after receiving the alert and evacuated the premises, shifting goods and materials to safer locations to prevent losses.

More than 15 fire tenders participated in the firefighting operation and managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours of effort.

Rescue operation in-charge Usra said some nearby pickets also caught fire, but those flames were extinguished following a cooling process.

Authorities said no loss of life had been reported in the Karachi incident, while investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

Rawalpindi godown fire leaves one dead

In a separate incident, a man died of suffocation after a fire broke out in a stationery godown on Gunjmandi Road in Rawalpindi.

Rescue 1122 teams reached the site shortly after the incident and controlled the fire.

Officials said the exact cause of the blaze has not yet been determined, and further investigations are in progress.
