Addressing the convocation at Lahore College for Women University on Tuesday, the chief minister said that “pink buttons” have been installed at several locations across Punjab to enhance women’s safety and provide quick access to help in emergencies.
Expressing pride in her academic background, she said, “I am proud to be a graduate of Lahore College for Women.”
Maryam Nawaz said that claims suggesting women cannot excel in various fields are false, adding that women are actively contributing to governance and public service in Punjab.
She noted that several women are serving in the provincial cabinet and that many have been appointed as commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province.
“I have full faith in the daughters of the nation,” she said, adding that no society can progress without the active participation of women.
The chief minister further said that women in Pakistan are excelling in every field alongside men.
She also highlighted the government’s housing initiative, stating that 100,000 houses have been constructed under the “Apna Ghar, Apni Chhat” programme.
