Dubai to construct $9.25bn ‘Golden Line’ metro project, expected completion by 2032

DUBAI: Dubai has unveiled a major new metro expansion project, announcing the development of the “Golden Line” at a cost of 34 billion dirhams ($9.25 billion), with completion targeted for September 9, 2032.

The proposed line will run approximately 40 metres underground and link 15 major locations across the emirate, according to details shared by Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on social media.

Officials say the project is expected to serve around 1.5 million residents and support 55 large-scale real estate developments currently under construction.

Dubai authorities added that the Golden Line will increase the metro network’s total length by 35%, forming part of wider plans to enhance transport infrastructure in line with rapid urban expansion and population growth.
