According to authorities, late at night, two young girls were discovered abandoned near the Shireen Jinnah Colony bus stop within the jurisdiction of Boat Basin police station. They were taken into custody for questioning and later transported to the police station.
During initial questioning, the girls revealed that they had been kidnapped from Sadiqabad by a woman who brought them to Karachi and allegedly sold them.
Police reported that one of the girls became ill at the police station and was immediately taken to a hospital via an Edhi ambulance. A medical examination confirmed that one of the minors had been sexually assaulted.
Following this revelation, law enforcement officials initiated legal proceedings and launched a detailed investigation into the case.
The victims were identified as an 8-year-old girl and her 14-year-old sister. The older girl is currently receiving medical treatment, while the younger girl has been reunited with her family safely.
Sindh Inspector General Ghulam Nabi Memon took notice of the incident and instructed authorities to provide comprehensive legal protection and support to the victims.
Member of the Sindh Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary for Minority Affairs, Rooma Mushtaq, visited the hospitalized girl and condemned the incident, emphasizing that such acts of violence against children are unacceptable in a civilized society. She also assured her full support to the affected family.
As per the victim’s account, the girls had left their home to buy medicine when an unidentified woman lured them away and transported them to Karachi, where they endured inhumane treatment. Initial investigations suggest that two unknown suspects were involved in assaulting the elder girl.
Earlier, in Gujranwala, a suspect involved in a child sexual assault case was killed during what is believed to be a police encounter.
