A report by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has revealed preliminary findings into the deadly fire that claimed the lives of 14 infants at a hospital nursery.
According to the initial assessment, the deaths were linked to the ignition of oxygen, exposure to thick smoke and severe burn injuries sustained inside the nursery.
The findings are expected to assist authorities in determining how the fire started and why it spread so rapidly through the facility.
An investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any safety failures that may have contributed to the loss of life.
