The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a strong rally after renewed hopes of a US-Iran diplomatic breakthrough and a decline in global oil prices improved investor confidence.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index rose 2,380.21 points from the previous close of 177,083.22, touching an intraday high of 179,463.43 during trading.
Market participants said optimism surrounding possible progress in US-Iran talks helped reduce concerns about regional instability, while lower international crude prices strengthened expectations of reduced pressure on Pakistan’s import bill and inflation outlook.
Heavy buying was seen across several major sectors, including banking, cement, energy and power stocks, as investors returned to the market following recent volatility.
Analysts noted that easing geopolitical tensions and softer oil prices are particularly supportive for Pakistan because they can improve external account expectations, lower energy-related costs and strengthen overall market sentiment.
The rally marked one of the strongest sessions in recent weeks, with traders closely watching further developments in Middle East diplomacy and international oil markets for clues about the sustainability of the market’s recovery.
