The World Health Organization (WHO) has said the public health risk from the recent hantavirus outbreak remains “absolutely low,” while authorities continue monitoring the situation closely.

WHO officials noted that hantavirus infections are relatively rare and are typically linked to exposure to infected rodents or their droppings, rather than widespread human-to-human transmission.
The organisation stressed that current evidence does not indicate a major threat to the broader population, though precautionary measures and surveillance efforts remain in place.
Health authorities are continuing investigations related to recent cases connected to a cruise ship outbreak and international travel routes.
The WHO also advised the public to follow hygiene and safety recommendations, particularly in areas where exposure to rodents may occur.
