Newly surfaced accounts reveal that Princess Diana declined a major media opportunity just a year before her divorce from then-Prince Charles was finalised.
According to her former private secretary Patrick Jephson, Diana held a private meeting in New York in December 1995 with John F. Kennedy Jr., who invited her to appear on the cover of his magazine George. She reportedly turned down the offer, suggesting she would consider appearing only for a milestone issue instead.
Jephson described the encounter as informal and friendly, noting that both sides enjoyed a light and respectful conversation. The meeting has since been characterised as one of the lesser-known moments reflecting Diana’s global influence and public appeal in the years leading up to her death in 1997.
