Islamabad calls for stronger diplomacy as it warns of worsening humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.

Pakistan has urged the United Nations to make mediation the first line of defence against conflicts, stressing that disputes should be prevented before they escalate into crises.
Addressing a UN debate, Pakistan’s envoy to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said peaceful dispute resolution remains a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. He called for stronger early warning systems, preventive diplomacy and greater support for UN mediation efforts.
The ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s ties with Iran, Gulf countries and the United States, saying Islamabad continues to support efforts aimed at regional and global peace.
Separately, Pakistan warned the UN Security Council of a worsening humanitarian situation in Lebanon. Ahmad said around 2,000 square kilometres of Lebanese territory remain under Israeli occupation and that evacuation orders are causing widespread civilian suffering.
He cited reports of thousands of deaths and injuries, with more than one million people displaced, and called for urgent international attention to the crisis.
