Pakistan Army foils infiltration attempt in South Waziristan, destroys Afghan posts: sources

Security sources say Pakistan Army has thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Angoor Adda area of South Waziristan and destroyed multiple Afghan border posts in a strong retaliatory response.

According to details, unprovoked firing and infiltration attempts were carried out from the Afghan side in the Zolol Khel area of Angoor Adda. The Pakistan Army responded under defensive rules of engagement, effectively repelling the attempt.

Sources added that after failing to cross into Pakistani territory, Afghan Taliban elements allegedly opened fire on civilian areas out of panic. As a result, three civilians, including two women, sustained serious injuries and were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Wana for treatment.

Security officials said the Pakistan Army’s swift counteraction caused significant damage to the opposing side, including the destruction of several Afghan border posts.

Local residents condemned the targeting of civilian areas, while community elders expressed support for the Pakistan Army and said such actions reflected the growing pressure on attackers following recent operations.

Pakistan has recently intensified border security operations in response to cross-border militant activity, with authorities maintaining that such actions are aimed at safeguarding civilian lives and territorial integrity.
